Valentine’s Day…ok, so it is that time of year again when everyone gets all lovey dovey. This day a lot of men are rushing to get that special woman in their lives something special. Tell me… are you that somebody? Are you that guy who waits until Valentine’s Day to treat her to a night out and/or get her something special?
How did Valentine’s Day come about anyway?
Valentine’s day came about from a man named St. Valentine who went against the emperor’s orders and married young couples. Not just any couples now…. The emperor Claudias II did not want his soldiers to be married because he thought if anything happened to his soldiers families then his soldiers wouldn’t fight as well as they should as opposed to unmarried soldiers without an emotional burden.
St. Valentine eventually was caught, imprisoned and tortured for performing marriage ceremonies against Emperor Claudius II demands.
In the year 269 AD, Valentine was sentenced to a three-part execution which consisted of a beating, stoning, and finally decapitation all because of his stand for Christian marriage. Kind of extreme don’t you think?
The story goes that the last words he wrote before his death were in a note to Asterius’ daughter. He inspired today’s romantic missives by signing it, “from your Valentine.” St. Valentine was believed to have died on the 14th of February 270 AD. Hence Valentine’s Day.

I hope you enjoyed the little history lesson. Yes, Valentine’s day is a great day for lovers, couples, or whatever you want to call it.
But why are you subjected to one day to truly show your love for your other half? St. Valentine’s story is legendary in the world of romance, but you should show and act on your love to your partner in crime all the time…everyday right?
It is not about the candy, chocolates, balloons, flowers, cards, jewelry, teddy bears, or whatever else you can think of. It is all about LOVE!!! And being there for your one and only.
If it is all about the material things now you will soon realize material things truly have no value. The only thing that really matters is the time you spend and the memories you create with your other half!
